Update from Wild Thyme


Whether you’ve leapt into the new year or limped, we bring you good cheer and news of lovely winter food to warm your cockles and tummies.


For those of you looking for a special treat our Valentine’s Dining Club event on Saturday, 12 February will hit the spot.  With just seven tables, all well-spaced, Wild Thyme provides an intimate space for you to enjoy this special menu that Nick has created to share with loved ones.


If you prefer to stay home, then our weekly Friday Take Me Home dinner service continues with the addition a Valentine’s meal going out on Monday, 14 February, (instead of Friday, 11th).  This three-course finish at home meal is as close to eating out as it gets, (but with the joy of having your slippers on) with simple instructions provided and everything fully prepared in oven ready dishes for you to enjoy at the end of a busy week.

Take Me Home


This home dining experience has been so popular during lockdown that we have decided to continue with our weekly Friday service. It has become apparent that there are many reasons why dining out may not always be on the cards and our Take Me Home option offers as close to a restaurant meal as possible, oven ready to enjoy at your convenience.


They are also a great option for a personal treat, a gift or a small get together.

Valentine’s Take Me Home – Monday, 14 February

£80 per couple



Nick’s homemade breads, smoked almonds and olives to begin



Smoked fish and shellfish sharing platter



Beef fillet “Diane”, truffle scented roast potatoes, winter greens, beef jus

Dining Club


These are set dates where you can spend a lovely evening at Wild Thyme enjoying Nick’s great food, (no need to be a “member” – we welcome everyone).


The menu is set (so there’s not even the hassle of deciding what to eat) to be the freshest, delicious dishes of the season, with zero food waste, with the option to add 3 complementary wines for £25 per guest and a cheese course for £10 per guest.   We do of course continue to cater for specific dietary requirements so just ask if you need an alternative or adapted dish.

To begin

A glass of pink champagne & Nick’s home made breads, sunshine olives and smoked almonds



Creamy parsnip soup macchiato, white truffle oil, crème fraiche & chives


Starter – for two to share

A selection of smoked fish, half shell scallop & garlic butter, lemon & rocket


Mediterranean meze (v) baba ghanouch, hummus, crudites, eggs, stuffed tomatoes, chargrilled artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese



Local fillet beef en croute, truffle scented roast potatoes, winter greens, red wine jus


Gnocchi, root vegetable & cheddar cheese gratin, green lentils, kale & spinach (v)



Chocolate sharing plate – chocolate nemesis, caramelised orange chocolate souffle, salt caramel, white chocolate & raspberry frangipane




Three complimentary wines – £25 per person

Cheese course – £10 per person




Private Dining


Wild Thyme is available for private dining either in the restaurant or in your own home. Minimum numbers are10 for either venue but are a maximum of 30 at the restaurant with no limit at your own home.

Cooking with our community continues!!!


We have been so pleased to be continuing to put our skills and time to good use working with St Mary’s Church, cooking their Mary’s Meals for families in our local community. We continue to build on this as we work together with them on the Branch out and Cook project with local families and the Top School students.


This project aims to educate individuals and their families on how to cook cost effective, nutritious meals and together we have built a 10-week programme which involves Nick teaching here in the Wild Thyme kitchen.


We had an amazing evening at FarmED cooking some delicious Diddly Squat Farm Shop lamb for The Branch Trust thank you of all their incredible Covid volunteers.  We were delighted to part of this initiative by cooking so many meals for the community.  Over 150 gathered and we were honoured to be thanked by Oxfordshire’s new Lord Lieutenant, Marjorie Glasgow.

For the time being we are only selling gift vouchers for our weekly Take me Home Dinner service. This is a great way to treat someone during these difficult times – a voucher for two costs £60 and may be used on any week of choice up until the end of this year.
